I was honored to be invited to document a truly historic milestone for Pensacola—the occasion of revered University of West Florida Professor Mamie Hixon’s 80th birthday!
Her annual “Girlfriends Gathering” has been taking place for decades and now includes over 400 women—sisters—largely from the African American community, who gather each year to deepen their connections and celebrate together.
What an event to witness: unity, camaraderie, and dancing the night away!
May God continue to bless Mamie Hixon on this 80th birthday and many more to come.
